For the purposes of Hilinqwo, a facility is a structure, generally enclosed, generally free-standing, that serves or is designated for a particular purpose.

Note that the definition of what constitutes a "facility" is rather general. It could be a single building, a collection of buildings, or a room within a building. Even furnishings that are used for storage — such as closets, cabinets, and wardrobes — can be considered "facilties." The following characteristics distringuish a "facility" from an "instrument":

  • The structure in question in question is freestanding. This is definitely true of individual buildings and collections of buildings. It is considered to be true of rooms and storage furnishings because the rooms and furnishings are generally freestanding in purpose.
